With over 21 years of experience in the private and social sectors, she brings a wealth of governance, financial management, audit and risk management, strategic leadership and sustainability expertise to the bank’s executive oversight. Joyce holds other governance responsibilities including Chairperson Board of Directors Uganda Reinsurance, Treasurer Advisory Board Humentum USA and Chairpersons Emeritus Forum for Women in Democracy (FOWODE) (2016-2022).

She is the Co-Founder and CEO of Capital Solutions Ltd, a pan-African social enterprise accelerating the growth of women- and youth-led businesses through innovative finance, strategic advisory, and social enterprise development. Dr. Tamale holds a Doctorate in Business Administration from Swiss School of Business and management Geneva, an executive MBA and several postgraduate certifications in sustainability, leadership, and gender-based development. A certified chartered accountant, member of the Institute of certified public accountants in Uganda (ICPAU) and Fellow of ACCA. She is a respected thought leader and researcher on social entrepreneurship and inclusive finance.

Her accolades include the International Swiss Leadership Award (2021), International Leadership Award by Unicaribbean Business School (2021), CEO Global Award for Welfare & Civil Society (2017), ACCA Uganda Advocate of the Year (2017), and African Women CEO Award for Sub-Saharan Africa(2019). She also received the African Leadership Award for Humanity (2016) and the Fellowship Award in Business Management from SSBM Geneva.
