Education and Professional Background:

25 years of Executive Experience and over 15 years of Board Level Experience. Founder and Lead Consultant at MAKLEAD, a leadership development, Strategy and business advisory consultancy firm. Up until 31st January 2023, was Managing Director and CEO at dfcu Bank for 4 years, leading it through the COVID 19 Pandemic successfully. Prior to dfcu, was Managing Director at Housing Finance Bank (Uganda’s largest Mortgage Provider), leading it through a major transformation in its ability to deliver on its core mandate of supporting the housing sector through improving its digital offering, customer experience and turnaround in financial performance. Before that, was Co-founder and Managing Partner of Progression Capital Africa a Private Equity Fund providing capital and technical support to microfinance institutions in Uganda, Kenya, Tanzania, Rwanda and Zambia.


Currently serving as Chairman of the Uganda National Oil Company (UNOC), Chairman of UAP Old Mutual General Insurance, Investment Committee member for the INVITE Trust and Board member for the Presidential CEO Forum. Previously served as CEO of present-day Finance Trust Bank, transforming the institution from an MDI to acquiring regulatory approval for a Tier 1 Commercial Bank license. Additionally, previously served as Chairman of the Uganda Bankers’ Association, Chairman of the Uganda Institute of Bankers, Chairman of the Association of Microfinance Institutions in Uganda (AMFIU), Director at the Private Sector Foundation in Uganda. Also held various positions at Orient Bank Limited (now I&M Bank Uganda), Post Bank Uganda, Barclays Africa, Pride Uganda and Pride Microfinance Limited.


Attained Advanced Executive Leadership training from INSEAD Business School, Blavatnik School of Government (University of Oxford), Strathmore Business School (Strathmore University Kenya), IESE Business School (University of Navara, Spain), Lagos Business School Nigeria, Harvard Kennedy School (Harvard University) and Wharton Business School (University of Pennsylvania). This is in addition to a Postgraduate Diploma in Public Relations from the Chartered Institute of Public Relations, Master of Science in Financial Management from the University of East London and a Bachelor of Arts in Economics from the University of Greenwich.
